Job Summary:
The Telecommunications Technician will install, maintain, and repair telecommunications systems and equipment, ensuring optimal network performance and providing exceptional customer service. Candidates should have a background in telecommunications technology, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to customer experience. Proficiency in terminating Cat6, RG6, and fiber optics is required, along with the ability to work from heights such as ladders, scaffolding and hydraulic lifts. Familiarity with hand tools, power tools and general construction knowledge is ideal. Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities:
● Install, maintain, and repair telecommunications systems and equipment according to industry standards and company guidelines.
● Troubleshoot technical issues and resolve network performance issues promptly to minimize downtime.
● Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving concerns, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
● Terminate Cat6, RG6, and fiber cables accurately and efficiently to maintain network integrity.
● Work from ladders or scaffolding as needed to access equipment and perform installations or repairs safely.
● Utilize ethernet patch panels, j-hooks, bag and tag procedures, head-end equipment, and rack building techniques to organize and optimize telecommunications infrastructure.
● Use hand tools, including drills, saws, chipping hammers, glow rods, etc., effectively and safely to complete tasks.
● Demonstrate knowledge of drilling techniques for security contacts and wire placement as required.
● Collaborate with team members and supervisors to achieve project objectives and meet deadlines.
● Maintain accurate records of work performed, including equipment inventory, service logs, and customer interactions.
● Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations at all times.

Qualifications:
● Experience with Cat5 and Cat6 cabling.
● Previous experience in installing cable, rack and stack switches, servers, panels, and workstations.
● Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to perform tasks and achieve objectives.
● High proficiency in Google Suite and collaboration software.
● Strong ability to produce detailed and independent written correspondence for communicating operational requirements.
● Proficient in security systems and proficient in reading drawings.
● Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
● Logical thinking skills with the ability to work effectively in group settings or independently with minimal supervision.
● Ability to receive guidance and instructions from supervisors or established standard operating procedures and act upon them independently.
● Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong focus on customer service.
● Willingness to travel up to 25% within the United States.
● Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license in good standing.
● Successful candidates will be required to submit to a criminal background check as part of our commitment to creating a safe and secure work environment.

Education and Experience:
● Familiarity with the building codes and current knowledge of appropriate systems, devices, equipment, and standards.
● Minimum High School Diploma/GED.
● Minimum one (1) year of work experience relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
● BICSI Telecommunications training and/or certifications are a plus

Physical Requirements:
● Must be able to lift up to at least 100lbs

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe is a federally recognized tribal government located in our
traditional territory of Akwesasne in Northern New York. The Tribe consists of over 16,100
enrolled tribal members, with approximately 8,000 tribal members living on the territory.
